Pachanga Step 2 Scrap Dance Mystery Quilt Along from From My Carolina Home

Ready for Step 2? Today we start sewing, and I’ve put the most time consuming step first.

Using the large 7-1/2-inch background squares, and the indicated amount of 4-inch scraps in the pdf download linked below, make flying geese using the no-waste method. Note you will NOT use all your 4-inch squares. Some of them will be used later. When I have a boring task like this to do, I like to use my lap desk and mark the squares while I watch TV to sew later. If you need the full tutorial on how to sew these ...

Scrap Dance Pachanga Mystery Quilt Along from From My Carolina Home

The Mystery Quilt Along begins today! Designing this mystery in EQ8, once I determined the final design, I began doing different colorations in the program to see which palette I wanted to work with. When I tried the vibrant brights, the pattern named itself, and I knew I had my project for this year. Pachanga is a vibrant, salsa dance with movement forward and back, left and right, energetic and lively, combining jazz and rock.

See what I mean with this video. Just click on the photo to start it.

The music and dance bring to mind the vibrant clothing ...

In the Garden, and Scrap Dance Mystery! from From My Carolina Home

It is a bit unusual to have a lot to tell about the garden in the beginning of winter, but we’ve had a few surprises since my last post on the garden. We have a pair of pileated woodpeckers that live in the woods surrounding our home, and we often hear their laughing calls. Occasionally we see one, but I was surprised to see this one hanging from the suet feeder, stuffing his beak.

Last Monday, we had a wonderfully clear evening for the Great Conjunction. I set the camera on a tripod, and attempted to get a good ...

Scrap Dance Twist and Facebook Live from From My Carolina Home

First, I need to apologize to those of you who were on the Facebook live video yesterday.  I didn’t have my screen set properly so the comments were not scrolling.  So it looked like no one had anything to say, and as a result I ended the video too soon.  When I realized my mistake, I got back on live, but by then most had moved on to other things.  So, please accept my apology, and now that I know how to do this a bit better, next time will be better.  Let’s try again, Thursday, September 17 ...
